Meiotic drivers are genetic entities that increase their own probability of being transmitted to offspring, usually the detriment rest organism, thus ‘selfishly’ increasing fitness. In many meiotic drive systems, driver-carrying males less successful in sperm competition, which occurs when females mate with multiple one oestrus cycle (polyandry). How do respond this selection? An observational study found house mice carrying t haplotype, a driver, more likely disperse from dense populations. This could help avoid detrimental because density is associated frequency polyandry. However, no controlled experiments have been conducted test these findings. Here, we confirm carriers haplotype dispersive, but not find depend on local density. -carriers above-average body weight were particularly than wild-type mice. -carrying also explorative active These results add experimental support previous finding affects dispersal phenotype mice, supports hypothesis reduces fitness costs .
